Organization Description
Ursuline Sisters Mission is the nonprofit that operates the programs of the Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown, Catholic Nuns responding together to meet the critical needs of God’s people in northeast Ohio since 1874.
We minister in the areas of education, health care, social service, parish work and more, focusing on but not limited to poverty, immigrant and disadvantaged populations. Our programs include Beatitude House, HIV/AIDS Ministry, Immigrant Outreach, Adult and Children's Education.

Position Description
The Education/Nonprofit Management Specialist will apply her/his skills set to the job while gaining valuable on-the-job experience. The candidate will be responsible for tutoring women in English, tutoring children in core subjects, working with a Children’s Wellness Advocate on programming for the mothers’ and children’s social development, tutoring children infected or affected by HIV/AIDS, and working with those living in poverty. Position could also include engaging with staff, clients and volunteers at other of our nonprofit sites/ministries.
Position duties can be expanded to match candidates’ needs for experience in her/his desired career field. Candidates are encouraged to apply their education, energy and vision to make a difference in our ministries and clients’ lives.
Candidate Description
Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree and desire to devote one year of their life to service at Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown ministry sites in the Youngstown area. Applicants must present at least three excellent references, take initiative, be dependable, be licensed drivers with reliable transportation, and should demonstrate leadership qualities.
During the year of service, AmeriCorps members are eligible for:
- A living stipend of up to $16,000 in bi-weekly increments ($727 pre-tax) in 11 month service period
- Forbearance on eligible student loans
- Interest Accrual payment on all eligible student loans
- Health Insurance
Upon successful completion of the service year, AmeriCorps members receive:
- A Segal Education Award of $6,345 (taxable). Can be applied to eligible student loans or future student costs
- Membership in the AmeriCorps Alums Network
- Access to AmeriCorps Alumni Job Boards and Recruiting Events
- Additional benefits such as free tax returns and other discounts from national partners
