This event is open to Chico State students, faculty, and staff only. ❗

Chico State students will honor the legacy of César Chávez with the annual community service event Cats in the Community on Friday, March 31st. Students are encouraged to sign up for this great opportunity to give back to the Chico community during this national day of service.

Transportation will be provided for site that are not walking distance!

Bidwell Park9:30am (PT)1:00pm (PT)

Help beautify lower Bidwell through weeding and removing invasive plants while enjoying time in nature. Long pants (stretch/yoga pants not recommended) and long sleeves are highly recommended. Closed-toed shoes are required. Volunteers will check-in and have breakfast at the SSC plaza before walking to the Lower Bidwell.

Bike Path Clean-Up9:30am (PT)1:00pm (PT) Join your fellow Wildcats to help clean up the bike path used by Chico State students daily. You will use the provided tools to pick up litter while also making note of maintenance issues. Participation in this event will require walking around 1.5 miles. General cleaning and beautification of Chico Boys and Girls Club. Tasks include: Boxing things, supporting them prepare for a building and office move, Van exterior and interior cleaning. Volunteers will check-in and have breakfast at the SSC plaza before walking to the Boys and Girls Club in Downtown Chico.

Chico Creek Nature Center9:30am (PT)1:00pm (PT) Join your fellow Wildcats at the Nature Center to help improve the pond/ vernal pool area with some TLC! During this service project volunteers should expect to rake debris out of pond, remove and replace rocks, fix pond lining, plant native species, trim plants/ bushes, and lay down ground cover....8/12Register
Compost Garden9:30am (PT)1:00pm (PT)

Composting diverts wastes that are currently going to the landfill - volunteers will plant seedlings and native plants and make seed bombs and garden tags. Volunteers will check-in and have breakfast in the SSC plaza before walking to the Chico State Compost Garden.

The Esplanade House provides transitional housing and intensive supportive services for homeless families with children. Volunteers will help beautify their community, work in the community garden, and organizing their sheds. Volunteers will check-in and have breakfast in the SSC plaza. Transportation to the Esplanade House will be provided.
