Join Keep Walnut Creek Wild and TreeFolks Young Professionals to learn how volunteers can stop glossy privet (Ligustrum lucidum) in its tracks and recover the woods for native plants.
Our workshop will be just inside the off-leash area at the very north edge of Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park. We will check the status of trees girdled last April and then girdle a few ourselves.
We will be working in the woods, so long pants and sturdy shoes are a must. My scratched-up arms also tell me that I should wear long sleeves. (I might. 😏)
If you choose to join us on this mission, your homework is to watch Girdling Invasive Trees with Cliff Tyllick a day or two beforehand. Bring your questions!
Join us for lunch afterwards at Oskar Blues Brewery Taproom (oskarblues.com), 10420 Metric Blvd. Ste. 150.
Park on the park side of Old Cedar Lane—not by the residences. The closest curbside parking is uphill of a heritage-quality (big and old) live oak. To find that location in Google Maps, enter this code as your destination: C839+Q27 Austin, Texas
