Pride Build 2023 With Topeka Habitat & Braided Haven

At Topeka Habitat, we believe everyone deserves safe place to call home. This year, we proudly launch our Inaugural Pride Build event to invite members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies to help us build an inclusive community where every individual and family has the opportunity to obtain fair and equitable housing. No special skills are needed to volunteer, just a desire to work hard, learn, and help others. Topeka Habitat will provide all of the tools, training, and supervision needed.   Pride Build is a fun way for members and supporters of the LGBTQ+ community to come together to celebrate diversity, learn new skills and make an important statement about the fundamental human right of a safe, decent, affordable place to live for everyone.

Our Pride Build events will be held June 23-25, 2023 at the Braided Haven Transitional House. We are excited to collaborate with Braided Haven Inc. to provide repairs and renovations for their recently purchased transitional house. This home will provide a safe place for LGBTQ+ adolescents experiencing homelessness to live. It will provide residents an opportunity to embrace their identity, overcome the obstacles presented by housing insecurity, and thrive in a supportive environment. We are looking forward to collaborating on this project and putting our Habitat for Humanity skills to use transforming this house into a home. To wrap up the event we invite all Pride Build volunteers to join us at First Congregational Church on Sunday, June 25th for a Pride Picnic and volunteer celebration.
