About

What: The Cocoon is actively looking for Volunteer On-Call Advocates to assist in our mission of providing a supportive environment to promote safety, healing, and justice, for survivors of interpersonal violence in our community. 

Role & Responsibilities: The Cocoon is looking for dedicated and compassionate individuals with a desire to support surviors of interpersonal violence in our community. As a Volunteer On-Call Advocate, you will assist in the execution of our mission of supporting suvivors by assisting with the operations of our emergency 24/7 hotline after business hours and responding to outreach inquiries if needed. 

Requirements: Members of our volunteer program working as On-Call Advocates are required to submit an application and complete a brief interview. Volunteer On-Call Advocates are required to complete a background check, paid for by The Cocoon. Volunteers are also required to have an active drivers license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance for thier contact. If admitted to the program, volunteers are required to complete a 40-hour training to providing foundational skills and knowledge prior to operating hotline. Training schedules are spread out and flexible to align with availability in training cohort. Volunteers must be sensitive to topics and issues relating to interpersonal violence and willing to embrace and practice advocacy through an empowerment model perspective. 

Shifts: Volunteer On-Call Advocates assist with operating our 24/7 emergency hotline after business hours. Shifts Sunday - Thursday are from 4:00 PM - 8:00 AM. Shift Friday - Sunday are from 4:00 PM - 4:00 PM. Volunteers are expected to take minimum of 3 shifts per month, with understandable flexiblity with scheduling. 

Number of Volunteers Needed: There are multiple openings for the Volunteer Program for the role of On-Call Advocate.
