In 2024, Back 2 School America is embarking on a mission to transform lives through the power of learning. Our goal is bold and impactful: to ensure every child, especially those from low-income families, has access to the essential tools needed for academic success. 

Over 8,000 Back 2 School kits, filled with more than 240,000 school supplies will be distributed at the day­long event. Six thousand of the already-assembled kits will be trucked in and given to representatives of dozens of YMCAs and community partners to disseminate to children in the Chicagoland area, ensuring that these underserved kids have the school supplies they need to begin the school year. Two thousand of the kits will be built from scratch at the event by volunteers, assembly-line style, and then also given to local YMCAs and partner organizations. 

Volunteers will also be on hand to write "Notes of Inspiration." These notes of encouragement will be included in the kits and serve to help boost the self-esteem of each recipient by letting them know there's someone our their rooting for their success.
