Description

With our program, volunteers (Reading Buddies) work one-on-one with 2nd grade students reading below grade level. Our Reading Buddies commit to just one hour a week to work with two 2nd grade students (thirty minutes with each student) for an entire school year.

Our staff at San Antonio Youth Literacy provides an hour and a half training that prepares all our Reading Buddies for reading tutoring. We also provide continued support throughout the year, so you never feel like you are in this alone! Your school choice will be based on your preferred location and time you are available during the day. We always work to place you in a school that is most convenient for you!

If you would be interested in joining us in our mission to increase the number of children reading on grade level, we ask that you start by completing our online application and signing up for one of our trainings. Training dates are all listed on our application and we ask that you pick one before you submit the form.
