The first two hours will be spent weeding, grooming, thinning, planting, or whatever else needs doing in the Herb Garden. The last hour will be spent learning about using earthworms to compost kitchen and garden waste. Bring your favorite hand tools for weeding and grooming (soil knives, Cape Cod weeders, old kitchen knives, trowels, pruners, gloves, etc. – no hoes or rakes needed, though). Everyone will get to go home with a handout that includes tips and general information. Small worm bins will be available for $3, which cover the cost of supplies used to make them.
Please dress appropriately: wearing layered clothing is suggested for this time of year. Please note: this learning opportunity is “purchased” via a barter system: you must work the first two hours (8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.) to attend the last hour of class (10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.), making this a free event!).
If you have any questions not covered here, call Sherri McCalla at 901-636-4134.
