Art Gallery Internship


Twin Rivers Council for the Arts in Mankato is seeking resume and cover letter from interested students for the position of Art Gallery Intern.  This is an ideal internship for students of Fine Arts, Art History or other related fields seeking work experience in a non-profit, arts-based environment.


Employer Information: Twin Rivers Council for the Arts is a regional arts and culture alliance that works with the public and its affiliates to ensure that arts and culture thrive in Greater Mankato. It is a nonprofit organization that advocates for the arts, cultivates public participation by connecting people to arts and culture, and creates partnerships between the business, cultural, and academic communities.


Intern Duties and Responsibilities: The Intern will report directly to the Gallery Coordinator and will support the overall work of the Gallery Committee. Major responsibilities include:


Gallery Install/Deinstall

Availability, third Wednesday and Thursday of each month  from 4-8pm (Some artists install 8-Noon Thursday mornings, so availability to assist during this time is preferred)

6-8 hrs per month


Satellite Gallery Install/Deinstall

Availability every other month to help at the North Mankato Taylor Library.  The hours are flexible on this; you can schedule the dates/times with the artists directly.

2 hrs every other month



Maintain Google drive database with current gallery exhibition info, future shows, potential artists and contact info, etc.

Research new artists to exhibit

Create/curate group shows for library, Emy Frentz Gallery

5 hrs per month


Monthly or bi-monthly meetings with Gallery Coordinator to go over information, settle schedules, etc. -2 hrs per month



     On track to receive Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art, Art History or related field.

     Strong written and communication skills.

     Ability to work independently.

     Ability to interact professionally with artists, business and community leaders.

     Highly organized and attentive to details with excellent follow-through.

     Proficient in Microsoft Office. Some Adobe Photoshop a plus.

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship position; course credit through the internship is encouraged.


Hours: 10-20 hours per month
