Special Events Internship—Signature Chefs Auction

Location: Springdale, Arkansas

Challenge Area: Strategic Planning, Sales & Marketing


Time Period

8-10 hours per week. Internships available Spring, Summer and Fall 2017

Weekly hours are flexible but should be consistent week to week.


Internship Description

The Special Events intern will report to the Director to create and develop strategies for a successful Signature Chef Auction. This is an unpaid internship; however course credit can be given. Interns must commit to an entire term to be considered and should be an upper-level student with an interest in non-profit work.

The purpose of the internship experience is to learn the fundamentals of non-profit fundraising, particularly the importance of donor relations as a tool for donor retention and community goodwill. The Special Events intern will have the opportunity to participate in the critical area of fundraising which is central to all nonprofit organizations, while having the opportunity to build strong community connections with Northwest Arkansas leaders.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of the Signature Chefs Auction social event.
  • Recruits volunteers and educates them on the March of Dimes mission
  • Assist in the creation and production of collateral material including posters, invites, emails, save the date cards, etc.
  • Procure in-kind donations, prizes, plaques, awards printing for the purpose of lowering fundraising cost
  • Research and analyze potential local corporations for involvement with the event.
  • Oversees night of logistics
  • Managing event guest lists, donor recognition letters, invoices, and mailing lists
  • Opportunity to assisting with onsite event set-up, registration, and logistical support for event
  • Conducting prospect research and creating spreadsheets, presentations, and documents
  • Providing general administrative support and assisting with special projects as needed 
  • Maintaining and updating records in Blackbaud CRM and AmPro

Qualifications:

Proficient computer skills, especially Word, Excel and Power Point.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Detail oriented, adaptable, organized and ability to manage multiple projects and tasks.
