The ACES Program has a community garden on the Germantown campus. The produce grown and harvested from the garden will be donated to a local non-profit that supports the community to address hunger issues.
We are seeking a group of 3-5 students to volunteer weekly to prepare and maintain the plot throughout the spring, summer and fall. This is a great opportunity for students who are interested in addressing issues related to the environment, community supported agriculture, and food security.
Weekly tasks will include weeding, soil preparation, planting of seedlings, watering, and harvesting of the crop. Gloves, safety glasses and gardening tools will be provided. Volunteers should wear clothes and shoes that they do not mind getting dirty.
MCPS students can earn SSL hours and MC students can earn hours towards the College’s Spirit of Service Certificate and Medallion.
