Youth Development Coordinator Volunteer

Open Opportunity

Positions50 Remaining
Age Limit18 and up

We are seeking a Youth Development Coordinator to take the lead in managing our youth development programs while coordinating and supporting our other volunteers working in youth development. Our coordinator positions are for those volunteers with more experience who truly want to lead and manage one of our projects. This is the highest level of responsiblity we offer our volunteers and this is an incredible way to build your resume and get hands on experience leading our youth development projects and programming.

The Youth Development Coordinator is also expected to help identify ways to engage local children and young people in fun and creative activities while also teaching them many of the core values that lay the foundation for ETIV’s work. It is especially important that the coordinator works with all of the youth development volunteers to ensure that they too are incoorporation these values and teachings into their weekly classes and programming as well.

These values include: mutual respect, cultural appreciation, caring for each other, speaking the truth, acting honestly and transparently, sharing and being generous (as opposed to stealing or taking things that don’t belong to you) and actively caring for the environment and all sentient beings.

The coordinator and any other youth development volunteers will have the freedom to choose from a variety of activities from sports, theater and music to arts and crafts depending on the skills, interests and talents of the volunteers and the children and youth that we serve.

We would also like the Youth Development Coordinator to collaborate with the Environmental Conservation Coordinator on an environmental project which aims to educate young people about the importance of environmental conservation, the local ecology including the river, ocean, rainforest and mangroves as well as introducing more complex issues such as global warming and climate change. ETIV volunteers will be working on a manual of 10-12 fun and engaging environmental trainings and we would like our Youth Development Volunteers to contribute to this manual as well. This position requires intermediate knowlege of Portuguese and at least three months volunteering time commitment.
