Urban Art Commission and the City of Memphis have partnered on the Great Streets Pilot Project to create a new, mostly protected east-west bike route through Downtown that connects the riverfront with midtown and points farther east, as well as creates a new pedestrian "promenade" along Peabody Place with areas for interactive public art elements, eating and drinking, lounging, and other activities. As part of this project, an artistic mural sidewalk will stretch the entirety of the project. The design was done by local artist Anthony Lee, and Urban Art Commission is seeking volunteers to work in shifts to help paint the mural sidewalks. The paint week will happen June 19th - June 23rd, each day having a morning and an afternoon shift. Teams of 4 volunteers will work with either Anthony or one of his assistants to complete the sidewalk. Please email Emily Rooker at if you are interested with your name, phone number, and dates/times you are available.
