July's Cultural Lounge is titled, "Hello God: The Role of Spirituality in the Lived Experiences of Black Women and Girls" presented by Dr. Tifani Jones Blakes.

Dr. Tifani Jones Blakes is an independent scholar whose work explores the spiritual development and practices of women and girls of color. She is particularly interested in the conceptualization of God and the role of African American Christian spirituality in the lived experiences of Black adolescent girls. Dr. Blakes is founder of the Be Great Advancement Group, where she supports girls of color in exploring their strengths and talents and helps them craft a plan to fulfilling their divine purpose. Most importantly, she is wife to Bavu and mother to Ellison and Eliana.

Cultural Lounge's aim is to promote an atmosphere for sharing ideas, thoughts, and concerns on issues relevant to the Black Community in Austin. This event is free and open to the public.
