The George Washington Carver Ambassadors, Inc. and Jerry’s Artarama are sponsoring the 11th Annual 100% Community Exhibition and Silent Auction Fundraiser to help benefit the George Washington Carver Museum, Cultural and Genealogy Center (Carver Museum). The exhibition is slated to run from June 30, 2017 to September 30, 2017, and will begin with a reception and silent auction that will take place on Friday, July 14, 2017, from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm.
The event is to help raise funds to support educational programming at the Carver Museum, and will bring professional artists, youth, musical talent, families, art hobbyists and students together in celebration of Austin’s diverse creative community.
The Ambassadors are longtime supporters of the Museum and are committed to making participation in the exhibition easy and accessible to everyone. They underwrite numerous events throughout the year that help benefit the Carver Museum and the community, and thanks to the additional generosity of Jerry’s Artarama, the Museum will be able to provide 100 free “Artist Packs” that include one 12” X 12” canvas, acrylic paint set and brushes.
“Artist Packs” will be available for pickup at 1165 Angelina Street, Austin, Texas 78702 from May 19, 2017 - May 31, 2017 during the Museum’s regular business hours (Monday – Wednesday & Friday: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm, Thursday: 10:00 am – 9:00 pm and Saturday: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm). The “Artist Packs” are for anyone interested in participating in the 100% event by assisting artists with supplies necessary to create artwork.
Anyone interested in participating in the 100% Fundraiser should call (512) 974-4926 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a canvas. All participants must return their completed canvases no later than Friday, June 16, 2017. The Ambassadors will also accept donations from local businesses that offer goods or services for auction.
Hors d'oeuvres and light refreshments will be provided. A suggested sliding scale donation of $10 - $20 is recommended, but no one will be turned away due to a lack of funds. This event is open to the public.
