Basic Literacy and ESOL Tutors

Open Opportunity

About

Literacy Volunteers of the Montachusett Area seeks volunteers to work one-on-one with adult English language and basic literacy learners in cities and towns throughout the region, including Fitchburg, Leominster, Gardner, and Lunenburg. Volunteers are asked to attend a 2-hour orientation and an 18-hour tutor certification training, and commit to tutoring an adult for at least 2 hours per week for 9-12 months. Tutors must have a high school diploma or GED; no second language proficiency is necessary. This is an excellent opportunity to add hands-on teaching experience to your resume, work with diverse groups, and participate in the work of a nonprofit dedicated to helping the community. To learn more about how to become a volunteer, e-mail literacy.mont@gmail.com or call 978-343-8184.
