POSITION:


The Special Events Intern will work directly with the Executive Director and with members of our Board of Directors in planning, supporting and executing the summer fundraising event, Picnic on the Farm, which takes place in early June at the Teaching Farm in Fayetteville, AR.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Event Planning, Promotion and Execution

- Contact auction donors/sponsors/vendors and artists as needed to confirm information

- Work with Executive Director or Board of Directors to coordinate event logistics

- Physically receive, catalog and organize auction items

- Write auction descriptions

- Work with Executive Director to promote the event, including advertising, distribution of flyers, management of social media, etc.

- Database entry

- Work with Executive Director or Board of Directors to procure and organize event supplies

- Event on-site execution the da of, including setup and teardown

- Assist with follow up, including mailings to auction donors/sponsors/vendors


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

- High School Diploma with course work at a 4-year college or university

- Must have a strong interest in event planning

- Previous event volunteer experience a strong plus

- Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word


Licenses:

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.


Physical Requirements:

Must possess the strength to lift and carry materials weighing at least 25 lbs. without assistance.

TIME COMMITMENT & COMPENSATION:

- 8-10 hours/week; up to 15 hours/week closer to the event

- Unpaid internship

- Hours will be worked during business hours (Monday – Friday, 8:30am-5pm) as well as hours on the weekend that the Picnic on the Farm will be held.
