About

CS4RI, or Computer Science for RI, is a statewide effort launched by the Governor and the RI Office of Innovation in 2016 to ensure that all RI students have access to computer science learning in RI schools. Two years into the effort, we have 100% participation of all schools, meaning that many more RI students can learn the computational and algorithmic thinking needed to be successful in today's economy. But, we know we need to do more to ensure that, within schools, all students--especially our girls and students of color--have equal access to these new educational opportunities.

This fellowship will support CS4RI's data collect to ensure equity of access as well as engage in district communications and preparation for the annual CS4RI Summit.

Major responsibilities include:
  • Collecting, cleaning, and analyzing student data to better understand and give recommendations on trends of engagement.
  • Communicating and liaising with district leaders; using data gathered to present a strong case for additional focus on equity.
  • Using the data gathered to make thoughtful recommendations on how to best prepare for and structure the third CS4RI Summit.

Required skills include:
  • Go-getter and self-motivated. Able to work well in autonomous settings.
  • Strong data analysis skills, predominantly using Excel.
  • Communications skills, within groups, one-on-one, in-person, on the phone, and via email.
  • Team player, ready to roll up sleeves around whatever needs to be done.
  • Background in computer science a plus, but not required.
