Mary is a member of the Skokomish Tribe of Washington State and was raised on the Skokomish Indian Reservation. Mary J. Pavel is a member of the Skokomish Tribe of Washington State. She was raised on the Skokomish Indian Reservation. She is the youngest of six children, all of whom went to college with three having advanced degrees. She is a partner in the Washington, D.C. law firm of Sonosky, Chambers, Sachse, Endreson & Perry, LLP, which is the preeminent Indian law firm in the country. During the 113th Congress, Mary served as Chief Counsel and Staff Director for the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, serving both Senator Maria Cantwell and Senator Jon Tester. Ms. Pavel is a graduate of Dartmouth College and the University of Washington School of Law.
