Volunteers will weed out bermuda, add compost and mulch, and plant seeds/lings for a fall/winter garden in preparation for community food production in the fall and winter. (If you live in the area and are also interested in ongoing participation, you can let us know at the event). Learn about Urban Patchwork's Community Farms at www.urbanpatchwork.org
Always bring a hat, gloves, long sleeves/pants, close-toed shoes, and a reusable water bottle.
Outdoor garden work is labor intensive. Participants with a known medical condition that is triggered by heat or sustained cardiovascular work will want to take precaution or consider a different project. If participants arrive with an injury that can worsen with use of tools like shovels, hammers, axes and wheelbarrows we ask that one of our coordinators is notified so we can provide a task that does not cause further injury.
