About

Bird is the word on November 27 - Warm up your Thanksgiving appetite with Chicago’s longest running Thanksgiving tradition; the 38th Annual Turkey Day Run! The Turkey Day Run Chicago brings family and friends together to start the day in a healthy way.

Big News In 2014: We're offering both 5K and 8K distances this year.

By volunteering you'll be supporting the Greater Chicago Food Depository ensuring no Chicagoan goes hungry this Thanksgiving. Please bringing two cans of food to either packet pick-up or to the race day.

Requirement Details
Positive, upbeat individuals to help thousands of individuals accomplish a goal while raising food and funds.

Life Time Fitness is committed to being environmentally and socially sustainable. That includes striving to be an energy-efficient, zero-waste event and encouraging participation by all members of our community. To show our commitment, we are working with Athletes for a Fit Planet to earn certification to the Council for Responsible Sport sustainability standard.

Here are some of the things you can do to help make this a sustainable event:

- Every mile you drive produces about a pound of CO2. So we encourage Volunteers to carpool, use mass transit or ride your bike to the race to minimize our carbon footprint.
- Use the right bins when you throw away your trash.
- Bring your own reusable water bottle.
Perks
All volunteers will receive a complimentary event crew shirt along with snacks and beverages. Individuals and groups are invited!

Earn school credit or Dollars for Doers thru volunteering at our events.

Volunteer shirts will be provided. Please wear comfortable shorts/pants and tennis shoes. Water will be provided but I would recommend bringing an extra water bottle to stay hydrated.
Parking Details
We are highly encouraging public transportation. Free neighborhood street parking is available, but plan to arrive early to find a spot. Parking is available at Lincoln Park Zoo on Cannon Drive for a fee.
*Note – Fullerton between Stockton and Lake Shore Drive AND the Northbound & Southbound Fullerton exits off Lake Shore Drive will close at 8:45 a.m.

Pre-Packet Pickup at Fleet Feet Old Town:
There is a parking garage on North Ave. just west of the Piper's Alley entrance. The first hour is a validated $2 parking but regular rates apply following. Behind Piper's Alley or down North Ave, you can often find parking.
