The Empower Computer Proficiency Program is an educational program geared towards equipping adults with the technological skills needed to achieve their personal and career goals. We offer three computer class levels that teach the basics of all the Microsoft Office programs, and give our participants one-on-one professional development training. Our participants range from non-English speakers that want to be able to complete simple online tasks with ease, to older adults who have aged out of the workforce due to their lack of computer knowledge, but who still need to work. We are looking for volunteers that can speak English or Spanish, who are familiar with computers and Microsoft Office Programs. Our volunteers need to be patient people dedicated to lending a hand to those who aren't up to speed with basic computer skills. We want our participants to leave our program fully computer proficient, and with enough confidence to achieve their goals. Empower classes are held in several different locations throughout the city of Austin. Our next Empower Series begins on January 20th 2015, with a volunteer orientation held on January 15th. For more information on when and where our classes are held, please email our volunteer lead at
