Service Day is held once a semester where students, staff, and faculty come together to serve with local nonprofit organizations. You can choose to serve at one of the sites listed below.

Everyone MUST check-in on-campus on the morning of the event at the Student Union Ballrooms on the second floor of the Student Union building.
Everyone returns to the Student Union after their service project for food and refreshments!
Sign-ups are open now and close Thursday, 2/7! If you plan on serving as a group, please have all participants register individually!
*For all sites: please bring a reusable water bottle.
*All must wear closed-toe shoes, shirts with sleeves AND long pants for working to protect against injury. Improper attire may mean being unable to join your group.
*Please note that service projects are subject to change depending on the needs of the community partners.
*Volunteers will be given 3 service hours for participation.

|Lake mead is the largest water reservoir in the United States and is under the control of the National Park Service. The reservoir serves water to the states of Arizona, California, and Nevada, providing sustenance to nearly 20 million people and large areas of farmland.|
Volunteers will be participating in a litter clean-up along Lake Mead.
|The mission of Boy's and Girl's Club is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.|
Volunteers will repaint one of the Downtown clubhouse walls.
|Three Square sources food, raises funds, and relies on volunteers to help supply our program partners with the food and services they need to provide wholesome food directly to hungry people in hundreds of neighborhood locations in all four counties. Three Square has a service network of community partners including nonprofits, schools, shelters, meal programs, SNAP outreach sites, etc. |
Volunteers will be helping in the volunteer room to pack produce/groceries for families and seniors.
|Dinosaurs and Roses is a Non-profit that operates thrift stores that aim to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need by direct contribution of goods. Proceeds from store sales are used to fund their community outreach programs.|
Volunteers will be helping at one of the thrift store branches. Volunteer tasks include organizing stock, assisting customers, and helping prep and sort donations.
|Habitat for Humanity is seeking to put Gods love into action, Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.|
Volunteers will unload trailers and assist in organizing the warehouse & showroom floors.
|Spread the Word Nevada is dedicated to advancing childhood literacy within low-income communities by changing lives one book at a time.|
Volunteers will be participating in a book prep.
At book preps, volunteers are asked to:
• wipe off the books with a damp cloth, then dry the book
• remove stickers from the front of the book
• repair rips or tears with scotch tape
• cross out personal information that may be written in the book
• recycle any books that are in bad condition or water damaged.
• Volunteers are also asked to help count books and fill boxes that will be used for our monthly book distributions.
Instructions and all necessary supplies for the book prep will be provided
|The mission of Springs Preserve is to create a visitor experience that builds culture and community, inspires environmental stewardship and celebrates the vibrant history of the Las Vegas Valley.|
Examples of volunteer work you could expect to perform at the Springs Preserve on the Garden team:
Raking, Weeding, Digging, Planting, Trash removal
*Most Jobs require: Bending, stooping, standing, walking, lifting, working outdoors in the elements including high summer temperatures.
*All group garden work takes place outdoors in the elements. Please prepare for this by dressing appropriately with sturdy shoes/boots, sun protection, hat, gloves, snacks and clothing allowing for gardening work. Please join sustainability efforts by bringing a water bottle to refill.

Volunteers will be helping at the teacher exchange store where teachers can get school supplies with the points they've accrued. Tasks could include helping to organize stock and assisting customers.
