About
Every Thursday, we gather at Tri Cycle Farms to sort through donations of juice pulp, coffee grounds, and surplus produce from our partners. This is one of our most popular volunteer programs. It's fun, a little dirty, and may result in a bag of produce to take home.
We sort and weigh the donations, feed some to our sweet chickens, and then add the rest to the compost. Pulp from juicing and coffee grounds are weighed and stirred into the compost. Produce donations are weighed and sorted as food you might like to take home, food for chickens, and food for compost. Volunteers are responsible for recording weights of donations and where those donations go (how much to compost, to volunteers, to chickens), as well as stirring the compost (compost, leaves, and donations), and cleaning up the sorting area (garage). These efforts record how much food waste is diverted from landfills, creates food & nutrition resources, and maintains a clean & organized community space.
We will start promptly at 4pm. Bring a bag if you are hoping to take some produce home.
We will work in light rain.
