About
SOMETHING BIG & NOT BIG begins with a live heartbeat. SOMETHING BIG & NOT BIG plans to shake your reality’s booty with a magic alchemy of people, puppets, live music, words and movement. SOMETHING BIG & NOT BIG gets that you have impulses. SOMETHING BIG & NOT BIG is the whisper, that becomes the butterfly, that becomes the storm, but the storm is really a ridiculous ballet of all and no consequence. SOMETHING BIG & NOT BIG is about the Sweet Spot, Click-Bait, Jesus, Sheezus, the Tooth Fairy and the Supreme Evolution of All Species. SOMETHING BIG & NOT BIG wants you to sing loud, for no good reason. SOMETHING BIG & NOT BIG wants to eat your story and poop out a Unicorn. SOMETHING BIG & NOT BIG is a collaborative-spectacle-installation-in-progress happening in Austin, Texas exclusively for the 2015 Fusebox Festival. SOMETHING BIG & NOT BIG is about that one time? Maybe? SOMETHING BIG & NOT BIG requires that you show up to achieve efficacy.
Daniel Alexander Jones presents a new performance piece in process, An Integrator’s Manual. Part funeral rite, part pop quiz, and part call to action, Jones dances the razor’s edge of loss and transfiguration to plumb overwhelming evidence of the failures of integration in the USA, to bear witness to the particular combination of courage, curiosity and willing surrender that typified many who tried to achieve its aims, and to call out the fierce resistance that sought to undo it all along.
Jones sounds a ritual of release and a challenge for the future using story, song, and humor. Will we be agents of death or of life? Will we weep and moan, or will we rise up?
Directed by Will Davis and featuring performer Jacques Gerard Colimon, and original live music.
