The COVID-19 crisis has deeply impacted our community of higher-ed institutions, businesses, nonprofits and cities & municipalities. For #GivingTuesday and beyond, we want to provide our donation management services for free and immediately lower our donation transaction fees (for the foreseeable future). We want to use this opportunity to ensure nonprofits large and small can leverage our platform to organize all their constituents (from volunteers, to donors, to board members and advocates).
Lowering our donation transaction fees
Many platforms includes additional transaction fees along with the credit card fees. We want to collaborate with all partners, and decrease the fees to ensure your organization can scale with us. Our GivePulse transaction fees are 1%.
Open Office Hours
Our team regularly provides open office hours to all community partners. The focus of these sessions can range from setting up donations to organizing virtual volunteer opportunities. No matter what the subject is, our team of experts can help provide a clinic, work through scenarios and connect you to additional resources and contacts. We know asking for help right now can be difficult. #GivingTuesday is a global movement of generosity that helps you reach out and let your community know they can make a difference and be a part of something bigger, whether that’s by making a gift, volunteering their time or spreading the word. Great #GivingTuesday campaigns are relevant, creative and express a sense of urgency. When planning for your #GivingTuesday campaign, you’ll want to think about:
Your funding needs during the COVID-19 crisis will most likely be unpredictable so fundraising for a general or emergency fund where you can easily access and use donations will be essential. Now is also a perfect opportunity to seek in-kind donations, such as food, hand-sanitizer, books, and more. Learn about how our platform can help support donation drives here.
Describe the effect donations will have on your organization during COVID-19. If you can put a face and a story behind your ask, that’s even better!
Give your donors a reason to give now, whether that’s an urgent need, a gift match or a goal you’re trying to reach. #GivingTuesday provides urgency by giving you one day to be a part of something bigger, but you don’t need to limit your campaign to just one day! Plan a multi-day campaign leading up to or launching on #GivingTuesday.
Adding language that addresses the difficulty of this situation for others will help you reach out to those who want to help without seeming tone deaf to those who aren’t able to give back.
Now is the time to be honest and explicit about your organization’s needs. Make sure to pair your donation or volunteer asks with examples of impact.
It takes a village and the more help you can get the better. Reach out to your volunteer and donor community to ask them to spread the word or even start their own peer-to-peer campaign from your GivePulse funding event page.
Thank your community
Make sure to follow up with a thank you message to donors, volunteers and to those who helped spread the word. If you’re short-staffed, you can use your volunteers to help thank others by asking them to write emails, cards or record videos. And if you want to be personal during this unique times, thank donor(s) collectively on a webinar!
