Pleasant Hill Instructional Garden

About

Our vision is to build PHIG into a community recognized resource with a water conservation demonstration garden. A community eyesore is being transformed into a natural and beautiful wildlife habitat that attracts birds, beneficial insects, butterflies, and other pollinators.

Begun in 2007, PHIG provides a living laboratory for all students and specifically for students at the Pleasant Hill Education Center and Contra Costa County Master Gardeners. PHIG uses no pesticides that degrade our water quality and is also simply a place to sit and enjoy nature.

Community service and garden work parties help to maintain, renew and develop the garden. Join us in the garden or help us in other ways!

Mission: The mission of the Pleasant Hill Instructional Garden is to educate students, staff, and community members on the need for water conservation and to promote wildlife habitat with a demonstration garden using mulch, drought-tolerant and native plantings and without pesticide use.
