The Green Roof Garden at UGA

About

Description
Sitting in a geography or geology class, it's exciting to know that food is growing right above your head! In the 1960's, a green roof atop the Geography/Geology building was designed to serve as a temperature buffer for the climatology laboratory, which continues to share the space. Since 2007, a rotating group of professors and students have further utilized this green space by planting and maintaining a flourishing vegetable garden. Now celebrating its 9th year, the Green Roof Garden at UGA serves as a living laboratory, a space for individuals to gain experience in urban agriculture and support our community through local food. The garden’s produce benefits organizations that are working to alleviate food insecurity in Athens, such as the Campus Kitchen at UGA and the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia. Sign up to volunteer and help us advance our mission of great food, grown on a great campus and serving a great cause!
