Transitioning from military life back into the civilian sector is a challenge all veterans face. Unfortunately, many veterans lack the adequate tools and resources needed to meet this challenge. The results are an alarmingly high rate of veteran suicide, depression, divorce, homelessness, and substance abuse. We exist to aid our nation's veterans through what is perhaps the most challenging aspect of the military experience: Coming Home.
Veterans Healing Farm is a non-profit community farm located in Western North Carolina. We support veterans and caregivers by providing access to fresh produce, farm activities, and seminars on holistic health and sustainability. Additionally, we empower veterans reintegrating into civilian life by fostering a thriving micro-community of veterans and civilians who build deep friendships, implement innovative gardening techniques and help cultivate emotional, physical, and spiritual health.
Additionally, we are in the process of launching a one-of-a-kind experiential "Veteran Farming Boot Camp" training initiative scheduled to launch in the Spring of 2017. This innovative program designed to educate and empower veterans with lessons in farming, homesteading and sustainability. The goal is to provide this five-day crash course completely free of charge for all veterans accepted into the program. Topics will include farming, medicinal herbs, beekeeping, off-grid energy systems, animal husbandry, yoga, food preservation, and other lessons on holistic health and sustainability.
