Volunteers MUST pre-register to participate; we will not be accepting any day-of/walk-up registrations.

Please email athensriversalive@gmail.com with any questions.

Rivers Alive is Georgia's annual volunteer river clean-up event that encourages civic involvement in the preservation of Georgia's precious water resources. Our waterways provide us with fresh drinking water, important wildlife habitat, and recreational opportunities that serve as a respite from our busy day-to-day lives. In 2020, 158 volunteers cleaned up 20 different sites around Athens, collecting 2.62 tons (5,250 pounds) of trash and recycling, 840 pounds of metal, 4.23 tons of leaf and limb, and 71 tires from our waterways and natural areas. In addition, 8 families/groups organized their own independent clean-ups.

Rivers Alive is organized locally by Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful, ACC Solid Waste, ACC Transportation and Public Works/Stormwater Division, ACC Leisure Services, ACC Public Utilities/Water Conservation Office, Athens Land Trust, the Upper Oconee Watershed Network, the Oconee Rivers Land Trust, Keep Oconee County Beautiful Commission, ACC Central Services/Office of Sustainability, and UGA's Office of Service Learning.

We are not able to accommodate large group registrations. If you have a group that would like to volunteer at the same site, each individual must separately register through Engage Georgia.

If you have any questions about Rivers Alive or the registration process, please message us through the GivePulse site or email us at athensriversalive@gmail.com.

Hi! The Erwin Tract map doesn't work! :)
Hi Sofia- thanks for the heads up. That is probably due to the fact that we did not enter an exact ending address. There are parking/location details listed in the gray box just above the map, and we will also have hard copies of driving directions available at the kick-off event on the morning of Rivers Alive. Let us know if you have any questions! — Rivers Alive Athens GA Rivers Alive Athens GA on September 20, 2018
