The Tree of Life program represents an opportunity for the University of La Verne to build on the foundations of our summer service project within our local community. Tree of Life strives to start a long lasting connection between the University of La Verne and youth in surrounding communities. Many times the idea of attending an institution of higher learning is not seen as a possibility for underserved youth. By partnering youth with undergraduate students at the university, we establish and strengthen the idea that higher education is a possibility for them too. Throughout the academic year, undergraduate students who mentor in our program will receive developmental workshops that will equip mentors to better serve their mentees'. Also, one-on-one meetings between mentor and mentee, a series of motivational and informational workshops will be scheduled to support the mentee’s growth and development.
