Amigos de las Americas

Amigos de las Americas (AMIGOS) is an international, voluntary, not-for-profit organization that builds partnerships to empower young leaders, advance community development and strengthen multi-cultural understanding in the Americas. Established in 1965, AMIGOS provides an opportunity for older teenagers and young adults to develop leadership and problem-solving skills while participating in training and service programs in Latin America. Each summer, about 600 student volunteers in high school or college and Field Staff provide health, environment, construction, youth outreach and educational services in rural Latin America in partnership with host-country agencies and communities. The summer community service programs in Latin America are youth-led and provide vetern volunteers with opportunities to develop ever-increasing leadership, management and mentoring skills.
