About
Experience Corps Marin is an innovative non-profit organization that trains volunteers aged 55 and over to work as early literacy tutors in local public schools. Our volunteers work one-on-one with elementary students who need extra adult support and mentoring. Our intergenerational model of community involvement benefits children, volunteers, and the community as a whole. Currently, Experience Corps Marin works in five San Rafael Elementary Schools.
Mission: Experience Corps, a national service program for Americans over 55, works to show that older adults are an untapped national resource and can be engaged to help solve serious social problems, including illiteracy. Experience Corps members serve as tutors and mentors to children in urban public schools and after-school programs. Experience Corps is a signature program of Civic Ventures.
