By partnering with schools, corporations and community groups for donations, and with social-service organizations serving homeless and low-income families, we connect communities that have surplus resources--new or used items in good condition--with communities that desperately need access to those resources. We currently serve over 55,000 children per year out of two locations in Boston and Philadelphia.
One of the unique components of the C2C operating model is that most of our work is accomplished through the efforts of volunteers who work in our "Giving Factory." In 2010, over 20,000 volunteers of all ages and backgrounds worked in the "Giving Factory" to sort, clean, and assemble donations for over 50,000 custom "KidPacks" to be delivered through our social-service partners. Through these meaningful, hands on volunteer opportunities, we aspire to set a foundation for lasting change.
Mission: Founded in 2002, Cradles to Crayons (C2C) is an innovative nonprofit organization that equips homeless and in-need children with the basic essentials they need to feel safe, warm, ready to learn and valued. While meeting the immediate needs of low-income children, C2C also sets a foundation for lasting change by providing meaningful, tangible volunteer opportunities to thousands of individuals and hundreds of organizations each year.
