Partnering with economically disadvantaged families, Hancock County Habitat seeks to eliminate poverty housing and to make decent, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. Through monetary and in-kind donations, volunteer labor, and each homeowner’s “sweat equity", we are able to construct market-quality housing that we then finance under a 0-interest mortgage (0% APR) at below market cost. Hancock County Habitat for Humanity has an open-door policy. All who believe that everyone needs a decent, affordable place to live are welcome to help with the work and apply for housing regardless of race, color, religion, age, handicap, gender, orientation, political views or any of the other distinctions that too often divide people.
