About

Description
Project UNITED (Using New Interventions Together to Eliminate Disparities) is a community-based participatory research initiative funded by the National Institute for Minority Health and Health Disparities. It is a joint effort between the University of Alabama's College of Community Health Sciences and College of Communication and Information Sciences and the Black Belt Community Foundation. The purpose of this initiative is to bring together Black Belt Communities, researchers, and medical professionals in order to reduce health disparities, especially obesity. Unlike other projects that work in communities, this project wants community members to be full partners in identifying community needs, proposing solutions, and working with researchers and professionals to implement their projects.
