Description
In November of 2013, the Y opened the Healthy Living Pantry (HLP) to all community members in need of temporary food assistance. Since its start, the participation rate has more than quadrupled, serving an average of 40 families each week. The goal of our pantry is to provide food assistance and creating lifelong healthy eating habits by providing fresh produce, whole grains, low fat dairy, and lean protein. Cooking demonstrations include ingredients found in the pantry that week so participants learn how to cook the food they receive.
