SPRED Partners works to find funds to support the work of SPRED field workers who guide churches to form small communities of faith to welcome people with developmental disabilities or learning challenges and include them in the life of their place of worship. The funds also support the establishment of SPRED Regional Training Centers that provide training, observation opportunities and mentoring for SPRED volunteers. SPRED Partners is a 501 (3)(c) non-profit.
SPRED (Special Religious Development) is a program specifically designed to meet the spiritual needs of people with developmental disabilities through their participating in a small faith community. SPRED integrates people with special needs more fully into the mainstream of parish life. SPRED offers faith formation, gives parishioners an opportunity to connect with persons with disabilities, and offers ways to include our friends with special needs into the liturgy. Through participating in a SPRED faith community, our friends are better able to celebrate the sacraments and enter into the worshiping experiences of the whole Church.
