The SDC directly operates over 20 programs designed to improve the overall quality of life for low-income people. Through its programs, SDC provides services to approximately 60,000 people annually. The SDC targets its services to low-income individuals and families who reside in Milwaukee County. The target population includes children in single-parent households, low-income older adults, at-risk youth involved in delinquency and gang-related activities, low-income homeowners and homeless families. The majority of the SDC's clients are of nonwhite ethnicity (African American, Latino, Southeast Asian, and other minority populations) and the demographic profile of the SDC?s clientele mirrors the profile of poverty in Milwaukee.
