Child and Parent Support Services (CAPSS) is now Center for Child & Family Health (CCFH). CCFH believes that parenting is a learned skill and that most parents want to be the best parents they can be. Thus, we offer opportunities for parents to learn the skills they need. Our home visiting program, Healthy Families Durham serves approximately 150 families for up to three years. Also, parent support groups and community educational seminars are offered. Families in the Durham community have learned that CCFH provides a safe environment when they are isolated, discouraged, juggling multiple roles and overwhelmed with the task of caring for their children.
Child and Parent Support Services (CAPSS) is now the Center For Child & Family Health (CCFH). CCFH offers programs to prevent and treat child abuse and neglect including home visiting using the curriculum Parents as Teachers, parent education groups, Parent Child Interaction Therapy, and seminars for the community. Child and Parent Support Services began in 1976 as a child abuse prevention agency. In 1998, Child and Parent Support Services entered into a collaboration with the Center for Child and Family Health. CCFH is funded by United Way, Smart Start, Durham County Government, private foundations, and MIECHV Federal Funding.
