A coalition of about 100 environmental organization, CEC is an information clearinghouse and communications network for and about environmental issues in the Houston / Galveston, Texas, region. We serve the public by bringing many diverse groups together to build awareness and stimulate discussion about environmental issues in the region. Our programs include forums that give a balanced perspective on environmental issues and information vehicles that enhance understanding. These are CEC's main programs: * Weekly Environmental E-Newsletter. CEC's original program, which began as a printed newsletter, today is the most comprehensive listing of opportunities to engage in environmental activities in the greater Houston region. It is dedicated to local and timely environmental topics, legislative news, and national news stories that affect our local community in addition to CEC member group activities and a listing of green jobs and grants. * Environmental Resource Guide. Reissued annually, the Guide is a directory of CEC's member organizations and other important local environmental contact information. First published in 1987, the guide is widely distributed to school districts, elected officials, and to the community at large. * Annual Meeting. CEC holds its annual business meeting each spring, in combination with an annual Environmental Summit to exchange ideas and discuss opportunities to improve the region's environmental community.
