Citizens for Animal Protection is a non-profit organization founded in 1972 by a group of citizens who were concerned about the conditions and treatment of animals at the city pound. CAP was founded to assist the local shelters by helping to place their animals. After 30 years in a strip center, CAP moved into its own shelter in 2011. CAP's mission is to accept and place unwanted animals, reunite lost animals with their families, educate the public about compassionate and responsible pet ownership.
