Prevention programs delivered to youth and parents are available in addition to working with area law enforcement. MADD is directly involved with public policy and education and works on laws to stop drunk driving. MADD had centered on crime victim's rights and advocacy services. It was founded in 1980 by a mother who lost her daughter when a drunk driver hit her. Today MADD consists of 50% men where in the past it was made up of mostly women. Prevention programs delivered to youth and their parents, working with area law enforcement and advocating for new laws to stop drunk driving continue to be priorities of MADD.
MADD's mission is to stop drunk driving, support victims of this violent crime, and prevent underage drinking. MADD is a crime victim's rights and advocacy services agency.
