Description

Nature and Purpose of Agency: The Snug Harbor Heritage Farm project will restore 2 acres of former historic farmland at Snug Harbor to its original use, and turn it into a dynamic urban farm that will increase the quality of life for those who live, work in, or visit the New York City area. The Heritage Farm will promote a healthy local ecosystem, be a place for community education, and give to those in need in the surrounding communities. Activities at the Heritage Farm will include health classes, nutrition planning, organic gardening, and exhibits and demonstrations .

Tasks Available for Students: 
Assist with planting and preparing the farm for the growing season.

Agency Directions:
Driving: Go left out of the campus. Take a left on Eddy Street, then a right on Victory Blvd. Go left on Jersey Street. Go left on Richmond Terrace. Turn left on Tysen Street, then right on Fillmore. Follow the road around to the parking lot on the left; drive to the end of the parking lot.
Public Transportation: Take the shuttle to the SI Ferry Terminal. Take the S44 bus toward S Mall/Yukon Avenue and get off the bus at Lafayette Avenue. Walk to Tysen Street, then right on Fillmore. Follow the road around to the parking lot on the left; drive to the end of the parking lot.
