Community Cat Program Volunteer Team

Houston Pets Alive! has an amazing opportunity to gain exposure and forward our presence in the rescue community, and we need your help to make this innovative PILOT program a success.

TNR (trap-neuter-release) is the most humane and effective method of preventing cats from entering the shelter system and being at risk of euthanasia. Once these cats are sterilized and vaccinated, they can live healthy, happy lives in their communities, where caring residents look out for them. This approach provides a public health benefit to the community, too, a vast improvement over the failed trap-and-kill approach that’s been used for generations. Feral cats *ARE* killed at Harris County shelter without ever having a second chance at adoption. This program provides an alternative to that grim fate and allows the cats to live out safe and healthy lives. HPA's goal is to provide TNR services to 300 free-roam cats in the next 2 months. That is a lofty goal that will make a HUGE difference in saving these cats' lives, saving taxpayer dollars and improving public safety. Demonstrating success in these pilot areas will enable us to spread the program across the city and we can't do it without YOUR HELP.
