About
For nearly 30 years, OBT has been providing assistance to new Americans by enabling them to increase their educational levels, gain English language skills and vocational skills, attend college, and find rewarding jobs and futures. OBT hosts one of New York's 27 Office for New Americans Opportunity Centers at its Bushwick Workforce Center (BWRC), which is strategically located in a community of many immigrants and high unemployment. The ONA Center provides English-for-Speakers-of-Other-Languages Training; Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals assistance; entrepreneurial support; immigration legal consultations, citizenship application assistance, bilingual childcare provider trainings, and well as referrals to other OBT services or outside organizations, as needed. All services are free of charge.
Mission: The mission of Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow (OBT) is to help disadvantaged youth and adults recognize their own self-worth and advance towards self-sufficiency and financial security through job training, academic reinforcement, improved life skills, job placement, and support services.
