This purpose of this group is to promote and sustain the stewardship of the Connect to Protect Monarch Garden located in front of the Odum School of Ecology. Funded by a sustainability grant, this initiative is supported by UGA Office of Sustainability and furthers its commitment to "creating inspired leaders, stronger communities and thriving natural systems." This native plant garden is made possible by a partnership between the UGA Grounds Department, the State Botanical Garden of Georgia (SBG), and the Odum School of Ecology. Conservation of native plants and their pollinators is just one part of the multi-faceted mission of the SBG's Connect to Protect program. As a model Connect to Protect garden, this space will serve not only as habitat for pollinators, but as a space for people to experience and learn the importance of healthy urban ecosystems and conserving biodiversity in our developed landscapes.
