Campus Kitchens

About

Description

The Campus Kitchens Project (CKP) is a national leader in community service for students and is the future of hunger relief. CKP is empowering the next generation of leaders to implement innovative models for combating hunger, developing food systems and helping communities help themselves.

We partner with high schools, colleges and universities to share on-campus kitchen space, recover food from cafeterias and engage students as volunteers who prepare and deliver meals to the community.

Student volunteers develop partnerships, recover food, plan menus, run cooking shifts, organize drivers, garden, glean and teach nutrition education to children and families. They keep track of all of the paperwork (so we know everything’s being done safely), organize fundraisers, develop curriculum and recruit new student volunteers. They accomplish an incredible amount of work every day.

So far, we are at over 60 schools around the country – big schools and small, rural and urban, colleges and high schools. Come volunteer with us, or help get a Campus Kitchen started at your school!
