About

(Out)Laws & Justice: History on Stage

A middle and high school project-based curriculum of American history, English language arts and educational drama. As their culminating project, inner-city students write and perform plays that dramatize the conquest of Western America, and the ways its legacy continues to shape the life and politics of this nation. On stage, the "Code of the West" meets the "Code of the Street."

Mission: Our purpose is to provide a reason for kids to get out of bed each morning eager to examine, study, and learn in school! The goal is for students to develop critical thinking about the roots of violence, make good use of school by meeting rigorous academic standards, to build community, and begin to visualize themselves as people who might be able to work together to bring about justice in their personal lives and society.
