Teams of 6 to 9 members run an approximate 50 mile, point-to-point relay, with 9 legs varying in length and terrain. The Relay starts at beautiful Bear Mountain State Park and winds through the scenic Hudson Valley and Westchester County, finishing with a fabulous post-race party and festival in downtown New Rochelle , NY . All runners are asked to raise or donate at least $50 to help end the cycle of domestic violence.
Mission: The Need for Speed Relay against Domestic Violence raises awareness and funds for the Avon Foundation to help end the cycle of domestic violence for today's children. Funds raised will support a national grant program that addresses the challenges faced by children of domestic violence--with an emphasis on counselling, education and skill development to prevent them from becoming the victims or abusers in the future.
